Technology and The Return of The Lord

Those of you who know me know I am passionate about technology. So much in fact that I can wax poetic on just about any point on the the tech graph. That said I am just as passionate about the Lord and his return. But what do the two have to do with each other? Let's start with the "mark." It is something that will prevent you from buying and selling without it and it is also a tool that identifies who you are. Additionally it is globally connected. So no matter where you are in the world you cannot get the things you need or desire without the mark.
Next let's look at the "two witnesses." They are killed after their ministry and the entire world can see their dead bodies. Satellite television is not new but it adds to my point about technology. Imagine the potential ridicule John may have had to go through when speaking of these things then, that are now commonplace for for us now.

The Antichrist will use technology to propagate his message, will use technology to ensure his rule is enforced, will technology to keep those who are left behind under his control and authority.
This is not a warning that we should abandon technology, what I want to suggest is technology is the one area where there will be continual employment. If you are wondering what you can do to ensure you will always have a well paying job, its technology. Yes there may always be a need for drive through attendants in fast food, or clerks to check you out at the grocery store (maybe not with automated checkout machines), but these will not provide the best income. With that said you will need to keep a lookout to where technology is headed so you and your skills will always be in demand. No it is not all about "gettin,' paid", but if you're going to have a job you might as well work where you can reap the most benefits. Obviously we must continually trust the Lord for his provision. And if the only job you can get is at McDonald's, then praise the Lord! But for those who can and desire to do better then why not go for it?

Jesus' return is immanent. We are indeed in the last days. This should not be used as an excuse for not doing the best we can with the time we have left.
